The photographs set up situations that present the viewer with an opportunity to experience adaptation to a contradiction. During the initial encounter with the work, the mind looks for the recognizable, for the pattern or structure that will give meaning to the apparition, and finding none it is confusing. However, because the photographs present a constructed moment in a fashion similar to an abstract painting, the mind has the time and the quiet space needed to learn to live with confusion and uncertainty.
